A Call to Action
The Postal Service is aggressively pursuing the right to reduce the number of mail delivery days from six to five days per week. The Union believes this is an ill-advised plan that can be catastrophic to the future to the Postal Service. With more and more people using the internet as a way to communicate or pay bills, the Postal Service needs to come up with a business model which would grow the organization rather than shrink the organization. Cutting services such as delivery days and collection days would shrink the business model and drive business away. Republican Congressman Sam Graves of Missouri has introduced a House Resolution H Res 137 which states the following: That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States Postal Service should take all appropriate measures to ensure the continuation of its 6-day mail delivery service. Democrat Stephen Lynch of MA introduced HR 1351 that works to fix the over funding of the CSRS retirement fund.
What can you do to help? Along with yourself have your family and friends write their Member of Congress to let them know how important it is that America retains six-day a week mail delivery service.
